Warren Trophy 2016.
The Temple Aberdeen-Angus herd of Andrew and Judith Denning and daughter Grace is the winner of the 2016 Warren Trophy, awarded by the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society to a show exhibitor winning the most points for home bred stock at shows with Aberdeen-Angus classes held throughout England and Wales.
The Denning family who farm at Temple Farm, Chedzoy, Somerset, run 15 cows and are regular faces on the South West of England Show circuit where they have picked up various wins across the area this summer, as well as class wins at a National level.
Success this year has come mainly from their senior cow Haughton Justine Erica, but flying the flag for home bred cattle was Temple Rosebud R653. This heifer, which has been shown all summer by Grace, was champion at Monmouth Show resulting in Grace's first breed championship and has won her class at several shows including Gillingham and Shaftesbury, Dunster and Yeovil.
Also successful for the family this year has been Temple Lolly Pop P582, a Rawburn Double Oseven J985 daughter out of Lockerley Laura D444, an Idvies Jester Eric A057 daughter. This one was champion at Dunster, Yeovil and reserve champion at the Royal Bath and West Show.
Runners up last year in the competition, this is the first time the family have won the Trophy and were awarded it by the Society President Tom Arnott at the recent Aberdeen-Angus Winter National Show in Carlisle who praised the family for their dedication to showing Aberdeen-Angus cattle.
“What is particularly pleasing to see with this family is the fantastic enthusiasm from 10-year old Grace, who is a vital component to the family’s success,” added Tom. Back in September Grace competed in the Society’s National Finals for the Youth Development Programme and came through as overall junior winner picking up prizes in areas such as stock judging, ring craft and clipping and presentation.
Coming joint third in this year’s competition were David and Penny Evans of the Tree Bridge herd, Shadwell Estate Co Ltd and the Bishop family of the Warrenho herd.

Cornwall Calf Show 2016.
Aberdeen Angus Champion at the Cornwall Pedigree Calf Show, held at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre, was Gayle Bersey's Lynher Valley Peanut S082 heifer calf an April 2016 calf by Black Banner of Idvies X1.
Reserve Champion was Andrew & Judith Denning's Temple Princess Superstar S674 an April 2016 heifer calf by Netherallan Peter Pershore E052.
